Omar Quintana has 25 years of experience in the adventure tourism industry. He began his career as a guide in the year 2000 and has since specialised as an adventure guide, with a strong focus on trekking and birdwatching.
Throughout his career, he has guided on some of Peru’s most iconic routes, including the Inca Trail, Lares, Choquequirao, Ausangate, KM 104, Palcoyo and Waqra Pukara, among others. This extensive experience has given him a deep understanding of Andean landscapes, history and natural environments.
Since 2016, he has been part of Amazonas Explorer, where he currently works as a Tourism Guide and Head Guide, contributing his leadership, knowledge and commitment to every expedition.
What he enjoys most about his work is being immersed in nature, the mountains, history and the mysteries of the Andes. He values the opportunity to bring people closer to a more authentic world, connect with travellers from different cultures and share his passion for birdwatching as a way of learning and observation.
What truly motivates him is stepping away from the noise of modern life and fully integrating with nature, experiencing silence alongside the people he guides on each journey. For Omar, guiding is not simply a job, but a reconnection — with nature, with others and with oneself.
In his free time, he enjoys reading, meditating, birdwatching and cycling, with observation and conscious connection playing a central role in his lifestyle.
