If you’re short on time but still want to experience the legendary “Lost City of the Incas,” you can visit this incredible archaeological site in just one day with one of our expert guides.
You’ll start with a transfer to the train station in Ollantaytambo, where you’ll board an early morning train to Machu Picchu. The scenic journey follows the impressive Urubamba River through the cloud forest to the base of Machu Picchu Mountain.
Upon arrival, a private English-speaking guide will escort you on a short bus ride directly to the ruins. There, you’ll enjoy a comprehensive walking tour and a detailed explanation of this fascinating site.
Note: Entrance times are pre-purchased and limited to four hours on-site.
After your visit, you’ll descend to the train for one of the world’s great train journeys back along the Sacred Valley.
“Suddenly we found ourselves in the midst of a jungle-covered maze of small and large walls, the ruins of buildings made of blocks of white granite, most carefully cut and beautifully fitted together without cement. Surprise followed surprise until there came the realization that we were in the midst of as wonderful ruins as any ever found in Peru.”
Hiram Bingham, “The Discovery of Machu Picchu.” 1913.
