Spend time in a Local Community, and Live a Day in the Life of a local

Learn about the life, traditions, and customs from a native Andean community.

You will learn all about rural Peruvian life, from farming techniques to weaving with the locals. Take the day to absorb yourself in the local community, sharing their more simple way of life, and the way they survive with just what can be garnered from the land.

The morning is spent on the farm learning the the different varieties of local crops and plants and also about their farming traditional tools and techniques. We then enjoy a typical lunch, based on the foods we helped cultivate.

In the afternoon the women will share with us the art and process of weaving. This is a beautiful glimpse into the daily life and traditional practices of the community, and the conversation with the women is sure to be enlightening. Through our visit, we are contributing to the sustainable development of the community and showing our support for responsible tourism. This experience is a true chance to connect with the local people, learn from their traditions, and create memories that will last a lifetime.

Great Rafting trip down the Vilcanota

Great trip and experience from the moment we were picked up from our hotel (actually from the night before when Eli gave us a call to run through the trip) to when we returned. Eli and Ronald were great as kayaking guides, giving us confidence in both the safety and when paddling down – and Ronald took some great photos that will be printed as a reminder of the trip. The kit, from boat to wetsuits and tops was all well maintained good quality. And the tasty cooked lunch on the riverbank at the end really capped a great day out. Not a cheap day out but highly recommended.
