Ideal for those in Cusco or the Sacred Valley. This rafting adventure can be done, by inflatable canoes, with no previous experience required. This rafting adventre is sure to leave a smile on your face as you combat the rapids of the Urubamba river. This section allows you to see a beautiful andean canyon and see torrent ducks along the way. To finish the day of you can visit pisac’s artesenal market famous for its textiles and pottery.
Did you know: We plant two trees per person, per day that you travel with us- making us the sustainable choice.
The section we run is from Andahuayllilas to Huambutio through the beautiful Piñipampa Canyon. From Cusco it takes roughly one hour to drive to the river (from the Sacred Valley, depending on which hotel you are staying in, it takes a little longer). On arrival we inflate the rafts, put on our wetsuits and life-jackets and following a full safety briefing and instruction in the art of rafting, we set off for approximately one and a half hours of paddling. The river starts gently with time to practice our technique, then builds up with a few fun rapids through a beautiful canyon where we will hopefully see torrent ducks and views of the surrounding peaks. We stop for snack, enjoy a couple more fun rapids and, after a final flat section to play some games, we reach our take out point. Here, we get changed and have lunch.
A short drive takes you to Pisac. This beautiful town is famous for its daily craft market, selling everything from colourful textiles to hand-made bags. You will have time to fully explore the market and winding streets, before continuing to your hotel for the night.
Please note the visit to Pisac is optional. If the group wishes to return directly to Cusco that is fine.
